Bladeless LASIK

LASIK is the most popular eye surgery in the world for treating nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Since its introduction more than 25 years ago, LASIK has been an incredibly effective procedure, and all-laser LASIK technology has further enhanced its safety.

LASIK at Eye Care Northwest is always a completely bladeless treatment. This means two types of lasers are used to correct your vision. During step #1, Dr. Gupta uses the Intralase® femtosecond laser to prepare your eye for treatment. Then, she uses the NIDEK excimer laser to sculpt your prescription onto the surface of your cornea. This technology, coupled with Dr. Gupta’s surgical expertise, is proven to deliver excellent vision results.

LASIK is remarkably safe, virtually painless, and the recovery is quick. Most patients see well enough to drive the very next day and can resume normal activities almost immediately.

PRK

PRK is the preferred procedure for patients who are not good candidates for LASIK because of thin corneas, or other eye-surface conditions that prevent the safe creation of the LASIK corneal flap. The main advantage of PRK is its simplicity. The results are identical to LASIK except that the healing time is extended an extra week to ten days.

In PRK, the very top layer of the eye is gently removed and the NIDEK laser is used to resculpt the cornea. A special soft contact lens is placed on the eye until the surface layer has healed, usually in four to six days.
