Cataract Surgery Costs

Insurance Coverage and Surgical Fees Explained

Eye Care Northwest cataract surgery and lens replacement fees are simple and straightforward. We believe cataract surgery costs should be clear, so you can focus on choosing the vision you’ll have for the rest of your life.

Dr. Grayson explains which portions of cataract surgery are covered by Medicare, and which portions of the procedure are your responsibility. Below is our pricing for multifocal, and toric lens implants. Dr. Grayson will recommend the best lens choice for you, based on your lifestyle, and the health of your eyes.

Does Medicare Pay for Cataract Surgery?

Medicare will cover much of the cost for your cataract eye surgery, which is the most frequent surgery covered by Medicare!  Cataract surgery is an out-patient procedure, covered under Medicare Part B.  Medicare will cover 80 percent of the cost of the procedure.  You will be responsible for any co-pay and deductible as determined by your insurance.

A standard, single-focus lens implant will generally be covered by insurance.  If you choose a presbyopic lens implant (for fuller range vision after surgery), or an astigmatism-correcting lens implant (which corrects the cataract and the out-of-round condition of your eye), you will be responsible for the additional cost associated with the vision improvement of these refractive implants.

Private Medical Insurance & Cataract Surgery

If you have private insurance, we expect that your health care service plan will pay for cataract surgery, less any deductible or co-pay requirements.  Your insurance will cover a traditional monofocal lens implant. If you choose a presbyopic lens implant (for fuller range vision after surgery), or an astigmatism-correcting lens implant (which corrects the cataract and the out-of-round condition of your eye), you will be responsible for the additional cost associated with the vision improvement of these refractive lens implants.
