Routine Eye Exams and Wellness Care at Eye Care Northwest

Keeping Eyes Healthy

Periodic eye and vision examinations are an important part of preventive health care. Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms. As a result, individuals are often unaware that problems exist. Early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems are important for maintaining good vision and eye health, and preventing vision loss.

We recommend that you have a complete eye exam every two years, as an adult between the ages of 18-60.  Adults with any of the risk factors shown below should have annual exams:

  • A family history of eye disease (glaucoma, macular degeneration, etc.)
  • Diabetes or high blood pressure
  • A visually demanding occupation or one that may pose hazards to the eyes
  • Taking prescription or non-prescription drugs that may have visual or eye-related side effects
  • Previous eye injuries or eye surgery
  • Wear contact lenses
