Bladeless LASIK at Eye Care Northwest

Bladeless LASIK

LASIK is the most popular eye surgery in the world for treating nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Its popularity is attributable to its proven track record. Since its introduction more than 20 years ago, LASIK has been an incredibly effective procedure, and bladeless LASIK technology has further enhanced its safety.

Dr. Liegner Performs Bladeless LASIK at Eye Care Northwest in Sparta, NJLASIK at Eye Care Northwest is always a completely bladeless treatment. Bladeless treatment means two types of lasers are used to correct your vision. During the first step, Dr. Liegner uses the Intralase® femtosecond laser to prepare your eye for treatment. Then, he uses the NIDEK excimer laser to sculpt your prescription directly onto your cornea. No combination of treatment is safer. This equipment, coupled with Dr. Liegner’s experience, is proven to deliver excellent results.

LASIK is remarkably safe, virtually painless, and the recovery is quick. Most patients see well enough to drive the very next day and can resume normal activities almost immediately.

Fast. Safe. Painless.  No wonder most of our patients ask, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?!”

PRK is the preferred procedure for patients that are not good candidates for LASIK because of certain eye surface conditions such as thin corneas, or other conditions that prevent the safe creation of the LASIK corneal flap. The main advantage of PRK is its simplicity. The results are identical to LASIK except that the healing time is extended an extra week or so.

In PRK, the very top layer of the eye is gently removed and the NIDEK laser is used to resculpt the cornea. A special soft contact lens is placed on the eye until the surface layer has healed-usually in four to six days.
