What is the Tecnis Lens Implant?

The Tecnis lens is a multifocal intraocular lens ( IOL ) option available for our cataract eye surgery patients.  If you would like to be glasses-free for the majority of tasks, you may choose the Tecnis lens implant to replace your eye’s cloudy lens during cataract surgery with Dr. Liegner.

What Makes Tecnis Unique?

Tecnis uses conecentric zones to create multifocal vision. Diffractive rings start very close to the center of the lens and then continue out toward the periphery, with an increasing distance between the rings.  This unique design performs well regardless of pupil size and can correct for more complex vision errors known as higher-order aberrations.

What Vision Improvements Can I Expect with Tecnis?

The unique design of Tecnis helps to improve your ability to see contrasting objects, particularly at night.  And because Tecnis is a multifocal option (helping you to see near, far and intermediate distances), cataract surgery patients who choose Tecnis enjoy greater freedom from glasses following cataract surgery.

Our Outcomes With Tecnis

Here at Eye Care Northwest, we track and monitor our outcomes very closely, and our cataract results are no different.  Following cataract eye surgery, our patients report and quantify their outcomes in the Lens Satisfaction Survey, reporting the amount of time they need to use glasses for certain tasks, if any.
